Gisèle and David
In June 2014 we left our home of 40 years in Palmers Green, London and drove along the notorious North Circular road with three howling cats in the back and rain pounding against the windscreen. 15 hours later we arrived in a tiny part of the Limousin region of France called Trimouillas and unloaded the contents of the car late at night into our rented gite on a dairy farm. The first delight of many to come was the smell of fresh, clean air and a clear, star filled sky. The cats looked boggle eyed too as they heard the bray of the farm’s donkey and smelled the very different air.
The three cats stopped howling in fact after they came out of the French side of the English channel and the sound of thundering cars ended. They are now lean from all the excitement of their new lives and their beautiful new terrain. One year on, and we are now living in our own home which takes our breath away every time we drive through the gate or look out of any one of our windows.
We often say to each other that we feel as if we are playing a part in a wonderful film, our experiences here have been so far from ‘reality’. We have really enjoyed all our dealings with the French professional people who have helped us along the way, and in particular Sylvie Allemand and her extended family at the Agencies en Limousin. From our first point of contact, nothing has been too much trouble for them and they have helped us not just with the purchase of our new home but with resolving all the usual renovation and moving in ‘hiccups’, always recommending the best artisans - plumbers, builders, decorators and electricians who ensured that the work on our house was done to the highest standard, maintaining with great sensitivty the original features of the property.
Every house purchase should be as lovely an experience as that offered by the crew at Agencies en Limousin and we are sure they will grow from strength to strength, if for no other reason than personal recommendation.
